How the MIDI to Audio Converter works
What is the MIDI to Audio Converter?
This free online MIDI to audio converter turns any MIDI file into an MP3 or WAV recording right in your browser. There is nothing to install and no login is needed. Your file is processed on your own device and is never uploaded, so your music stays private. Open a .mid, .midi, .kar or .rmi file (MIDI type 0, 1 and 2 are supported), or tap Try a sample MIDI to see everything in action first.
Choose instruments for every track
As soon as the file opens, you see every track it contains. Pick one instrument for the whole song from the full General MIDI list, such as acoustic piano, electric piano, organ, guitar, strings, brass and more, or keep the instruments written in the file. In Track settings you can also give each track its own instrument, switch it on or off, solo it, and set its volume and pan. Drum tracks automatically use the built-in drum kit.
Shape the sound with simple knobs
Sound settings give you sixteen knobs in four cards. Notes controls speed, transpose, sustain and dynamics. Space adds reverb, room size and echo. Tone adjusts bass, mid, treble and warmth. Master sets stereo width, compressor and overall volume. Start with a ready preset such as Concert hall, Cathedral, Studio bright, Warm and mellow, Lo-fi, Dreamy echo or Dry, then fine tune it. You can also follow the sustain pedal stored in the file and keep the limiter on to stop loud parts from clipping.
Listen, select and loop any part
Press play to hear your changes straight away. Switch between the Waveform and Notes views, zoom in to see detail, and drag across the timeline to select just the part you want. Click anywhere to move the playhead, turn on repeat to loop the selection, and use the Space key to play or pause. Use the small full-screen button next to the theme button for a bigger workspace, and switch between light and dark themes whenever you like.
Download as MP3 or WAV
When the sound is right, open Download settings and choose MP3 or WAV. For MP3 you can pick a bitrate from 64 to 320 kbps. For WAV you can choose 16-bit, 24-bit or 32-bit float quality and sample rates up to 96 kHz. Select stereo or mono, normalize the level, add a fade in or fade out, remove silence at the start, and let the last notes ring out naturally. You can export the whole song or only the selected part, and the estimated file size is shown before you download.
