How It Works : Sargam to Western Notes Converter
Musicians learn from songbooks and videos written in many different notation styles, such as Indian Sargam (multiple ways of writing notations), Carnatic, Western letter notes, or some other systems like solfege or Jianpu etc. This free online Indian Western notation converter turns your notes and chords from one system into another in seconds. Paste a full song with lyrics, chords and notes together, and the tool finds the music, converts only that, and leaves every other word exactly as you typed it, in English, Hindi, Marathi or any other language.
How to use it
- Paste your song. Type or paste notes, chords and lyrics into the Input box. Chords such as Am, Cmaj7, G/B or [C] are understood as well.
- Choose the systems. Pick the From notation (or keep Auto-detect) and the To notation, for example Western to Hindustani Hindi.
- Set your Sa. For Indian systems, select the note that is Sa (सा). Every note is shifted to match that key. Use Transpose to move the whole song up or down by up to 12 semitones.
- Read the result. The Converted output updates instantly as you type or change a setting. Notes are highlighted in green and chords in blue, in both boxes, so you can see exactly what was detected.
- Download or copy. Save the result as a PDF or text file, both marked “Generated by IndiPiano.com”, or copy it with one click.
How the conversion works
Each line is scanned and split into music and plain text. Every detected note is matched to its exact pitch in the selected key, then written again in the target system, including octave marks and chord qualities. Ambiguous words like “A”, “Do” or “Bad” are only converted when they sit among real notes, so ordinary lyrics are never changed by mistake.
