What is the IndiPiano Chord Sheet Maker?

The IndiPiano Chord Sheet Maker is a free online chord sheet maker that lets you write lyrics and place chords exactly where they are sung or played. Build a song from sections and bars, hear it with a piano, electric piano or pad sound and a drum loop, then download a printable PDF chord sheet, a text file, a ChordPro file or studio-quality audio. It runs in your browser on desktop, tablet and mobile, with no sign-up and nothing to install.

Build your song with sections and bars

Press Add section to create a Verse, Chorus, Pre-chorus, Bridge, Intro, Outro, Instrumental or Custom block. Each section holds bars that you can add, duplicate, delete, repeat up to eight times and spread across one to eight bars per row. Section names are editable and every section gets its own colour. Set any time signature, including custom values such as 7/8 or 12/8, and a tempo from 30 to 300 BPM.

Free-flow chord boxes on a beat grid

Tap an empty place in a bar to drop a chord, then drag it to move it or drag its edges to stretch or shorten it. Chords are not locked to rigid slots, so a bar can hold a chord for two beats followed by two quick changes. Chord snap can be Free, To beat or To half beat, and beat lines show where the time signature falls. The keyboard works too: arrow keys move a chord, Shift with the arrows resizes it and Delete removes it.

Pick chords from the key or drag them in

Choose the key and major or minor mode and the Chords in this key row shows every diatonic chord with its Roman numeral. Switch it to 7th chords, Suspended, Diminished, Augmented or Add 9 and 6 sets. Tap a chip to select it, or drag it straight into any bar. Drag chords you already placed to other bars to rearrange the song. The chord editor covers 19 chord types on all 12 roots, slash bass notes and fully custom voicings built on a piano keyboard.

Type or paste lyrics and notation

Each bar has a free lyrics box and an optional notation line. Type or paste anything you like, in English, Hindi, Marathi or any other language. Turn the Notation line on and type letter names, numbers, sargam or your own symbols under the chords.

Transpose, capo and chord display

Transpose the whole song up or down by up to 12 semitones and apply it permanently, or set a capo from fret 1 to 11 and switch to Capo shapes to see the chords to actually play. Show chords as Names, Capo shapes, Nashville numbers or Roman numerals, and choose sharps, flats or automatic spelling. Every label updates instantly when you change the key.

Studio-grade playback engine

Playback is rendered live with the Web Audio API using a layered synthesis engine with a dynamics compressor, stereo panning, delay and convolution reverb. Pick Grand Piano, Electric Piano or Warm Pad, and a block, strum or arpeggio play style. Choose from 70 drum loops across pop and rock, ballads, country and folk, funk and soul, hip-hop, jazz and blues, Latin, dance, waltz and world and Indian grooves, or a metronome click. A count-in bar, loop mode, play-from-any-bar buttons and a moving playhead keep rehearsal smooth.

Download PDF, text, ChordPro, backup or audio

The PDF chord sheet comes in three layouts: chords above lyrics, with a piano diagram for every chord in each section, or with all piano diagrams at the end. Choose A4 or US Letter, one or two columns, three text sizes, colour or black and white. The text in the PDF stays selectable and searchable, including Hindi and Marathi. You can also save plain text, a ChordPro file and a JSON backup. Audio exports as WAV in 16-bit, 24-bit or 32-bit float, or as MP3 from 64 to 320 kbps, at 22.05, 44.1 or 48 kHz, in mono or stereo, with normalise, ring-out, silence trim and fade controls. Add the song title, artist and notes in the download window.

Import, undo and automatic saving

Paste chords over lyrics, inline ChordPro such as [C]word, or a JSON backup, and the importer detects sections, bars and chords in English, Hindi and Marathi. Undo steps back through your last 40 edits. Your song is saved automatically in your own browser and returns when you reopen the page.

Private, fast and free

Everything runs locally in your browser. Your lyrics, chords and audio are never uploaded, there is no login and no subscription, and the layout adapts to any screen size. Switch between light and dark mode with the moon button and use the full screen button for more room.
