How It Works

What is an Audio-to-Chords Extractor?

An Audio-to-Chords Extractor is a smart music analysis tool that converts audio file into accurate chord progressions. It listens to your track, detects harmonic changes and transforms the sound into clear, readable chords.

How to Use Our Audio-to-Chords Extractor :

Upload Your Audio File : Simply drag and drop your audio files to get started.

Automatic Chord Detection : Our intelligent engine analyzes the track and extracts accurate chords in real time.

Key & Confidence Analysis : Instantly identify the global key and see confidence levels for reliable results.

Timeline Visualization : View chords mapped across the song timeline for easy tracking and practice.

Section-Based Breakdown : See chord changes bar-by-bar or section-by-section for deeper musical understanding.

Download & Share : Export your chord map for printing, sharing, or further editing.

Our Audio-to-Chords Extractor simplifies music learning by turning complex audio into clean, structured chord progressions – making practice, performance, and songwriting easier than ever.

Important Note :

Note: For the highest accuracy, this tool works best with instrumental tracks or piano solos where harmonic changes are distinct and clear. Vocals or heavy percussion may occasionally impact the detection precision.

Harmonic Event Detection

This application uses a high-precision Goertzel Algorithm to isolate the core energy of the 12 chromatic notes across multiple octaves in your audio. Unlike fixed-bar systems, our engine scans for Harmonic Transitions—identifying the exact moment a tonal shift occurs. By mapping these frequencies against the Krumhansl-Schmuckler pitch-class profiles via Pearson Correlation, the app identifies the most likely chord used at that specific timestamp.

The Confidence Number

The small circle on each chord box represents the Statistical Correlation Score (0–100). This value indicates how closely the audio signal in that segment matches the mathematical template of a specific chord.

  • 80–100: High confidence; the audio clearly aligns with a major or minor triad.
  • Below 50: Low confidence; this may occur during complex passages, fast transitions, or where there is significant background noise.

Small Donation Helps

  • IndiPiano is completely free. Along with this, I am also running StammeringHelp.com, an NGO dedicated to supporting people with speech and hearing disabilities. It is essentially a platform that integrates neuroscience and AI-driven analytics to advance research and solutions in human speech and hearing sciences.
  • I am just a software engineer from India, maintaining and running this NGO as a non-profit initiative supported by donations.
  • Every contribution helps us maintain and grow this platform so it can reach and help more people.
  • It also funds ongoing research not only into stammering and stuttering, but also in overall speech, hearing and neuroscience.
