How It Works

What is the Virtual Instruments Library?

The Virtual Instruments Library is an interactive, web-based musical studio that lets you play, record, and experiment with a wide variety of instruments directly from your browser. Whether you are a beginner learning musical notes or a producer mapping out quick melodies, it offers dynamic, instrument-specific visual layouts for an immersive music creation experience – no installation required.

How to Use Our Virtual Studio

  • Select an Instrument: Use the intuitive carousel to easily swap between Acoustic Piano, Electric Guitar, Harp, Drum Kits, Flute, Brass, and more.
  • Play Your Way: Use your mouse, touch screen, or computer keyboard. The app features smart dual-mapping: standard chromatic mapping for pianos/guitars, and an easy “straight-across” linear mapping for drum pads and harps.
  • Follow the Labels: Every key, pad, string, and fret displays the exact musical note (e.g., C#4) alongside the mapped computer key (e.g., [Z]), making it incredibly easy to learn and play.
  • Record & Save: Hit the “Record” button to capture your jam session. You can play it back instantly to check your work, and hit “Download” to save it directly to your device as an audio file.
  • Tweak Your Sound: Use the built-in toolbar to adjust volume, toggle the sustain pedal, or transpose your notes up and down to fit your desired key.

Dynamic Visual Layouts & Instruments Unlike standard digital pianos, our app transforms the screen to match the instrument you are playing:

  • Acoustic Piano & Vintage Organ: Classic 37-key chromatic keyboards for warm chords and melodies.
  • Electric Guitar & Violin: Interactive fretboards and string layouts where you can click or type to “fret” a note.
  • Harp: A beautiful set of pluckable strings that visually vibrate when played.
  • Flute & Brass (Trumpet/Sax): Unique interfaces featuring interactive tone holes, valves, and pads tailored for wind and brass instruments.
  • Synth Drum Kit & Steel Drums: Clean, easy-to-tap grid pads designed specifically for finger-drumming and beat-making.
  • Melodica & Synth Bass: Fun, stylized interfaces for adding quirky leads or deep, solid foundations to your tracks.

Our Virtual Instruments Library is perfect for quick beat testing, ear training, and on-the-go recording. Its dynamic visual feedback, optimized keyboard controls, and built-in recording tools make it a powerful yet playful tool for musicians of all skill levels.

Small Donation Helps

  • IndiPiano is completely free. Along with this, I am also running StammeringHelp.com, an NGO dedicated to supporting people with speech and hearing disabilities. It is essentially a platform that integrates neuroscience and AI-driven analytics to advance research and solutions in human speech and hearing sciences.
  • I am just a software engineer from India, maintaining and running this NGO as a non-profit initiative supported by donations.
  • Every contribution helps us maintain and grow this platform so it can reach and help more people.
  • It also funds ongoing research not only into stammering and stuttering, but also in overall speech, hearing and neuroscience.
